CHC to Consider Shepards Wharf Dredging Scheme

Cowes Harbor Commission (CHC) recently received an application for a maintenance dredge licence at Shepards Wharf – Town Quay.

According to the CHC release, an application has been made for a maintenance dredge at Shepards Wharf Marina and approaches and the Town Quay mooring basin.

The area to be dredged includes Shepards Wharf Marina and the surrounding approaches and separately the Town Quay mooring basin.

Shepards Wharf will be returned to its design depths of between 2.0m – 2.5m below chart datum and the approaches to between 1.5m – 3.0m below chart datum. Town Quay will be reduced back to its design depth of between 1.0m – 2.0m below chart datum.

The project calls for removal of approximately 3,000 cubic meters from Shepards Wharf and 500 cubic meters from Town Quay.

Dredging is aimed to be carried out either in April or the autumn/winter of 2016 taking approximately 10 days.
