McL&H to Hold Supplier Event for Water of Leith Project

McLaughlin & Harvey, in partnership with Constructionline, is about to hold a Supplier Engagement Event to inform potential suppliers about the opportunities available on the £14 million Water of Leith project.

The event, set for 23rd March 2016, will provide potential suppliers with the chance to learn more about the extent of the opportunity, the process for applications and timelines, and meet with key individuals within the organisation.

The Water of Leith Flood Prevention Scheme Phase 2 will involve the construction of flood defenses over a distance of approximately 1.2 km along Water of Leith at Murrayfield in Edinburgh.

The flood defense works include for structural walls and earth embankments, approximately 1500m and 600m respectively, with associated flood gates and provision of pumping stations to assist with drainage on the dry side of the wall.

The works also include for the demolition and removal of four bridges (the Baird Drive and Saughtonhall Avenue pedestrian and vehicular bridges) and the provision of two new combined pedestrian/vehicular bridges in their place. Ancillary works include utility diversions, drainage, reinstatement of roads, hard standings, footpaths and the provision of hard and soft landscaping.

Design of the flood walls is in progress and construction will commence in the 2nd quarter of 2016.
