Rossaveel Harbor Dredging Tender Announced

The Irish Government’s Department of Agriculture, Food & the Marine has just announced a tender for the Rossaveel Small Craft Harbor capital dredging works.

The dredging operations associated with the small craft harbor will require the removal of approximately 78,000 m³ of material to create a manoeuvring basin and berthing area with a minimum depth of 2.8 m Chart Datum.

The contract will include dredging of approximately 17,000 m³ of rock and 61,000 m³ of weaker materials.

Most of the rock is granite bedrock and it is expected to be too strong to dredge without pre-treatment.

The dredged material (granite) will be used in the reclamation/breakwater to be created adjacent to the small craft harbor.

Of the 61,000 m³ weaker material, approximately 18,000 m³ will be used in the reclamation of the water logged area in Rossaveel Harbor, with the remainder going to a dump site at sea.

The start of this dredging scheme, worth EUR 3.5 million, is set for June 1, 2016 and the completion is scheduled for December 1, 2016.

The deadline for this tender is April 18, 2016.
