NMDC and Royal IHC Sign Contract for New TSHD

NMDC and IHC
Signing of the contract at NMDC headquarters in Abu Dhabi

National Marine Dredging Company (NMDC) and Royal IHC – the two companies specialized in dredging, mining and marine construction – have signed a contract for the construction of a new state-of-the-art Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger.

The contract was signed on Wednesday, March 9 2016, at NMDC headquarters in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E between the company’s CEO Eng. Yasser Zaghloul and IHC CEO Mr. Bram Roelse.

According to one of NMDC officials, the TSHD will have capacity of 6,000 cubic meters and is in line with NMDC international growth and fleet investment strategy which is aimed at positioning National Marine Dredging Company as a leader in the industry.

The contract for this custom-built TSHD follows successful cooperation between the two companies in the past such as the construction of the 10,919 KW Heavy Duty Cutter Suction Dredger “Al Mirfa” that was built by IHC Merwede (Royal IHC) for the National Marine Dredging Company back in 2000.

More details on the contract will be available soon.
