The Maroochy River Dredging and Beach Nourishment Works for 2016 have been successfully completed by Neumann Contractors.

The works involved the dredging of 20,000 m3 of clean sand from the Maroochy River and transferring the material through a permanent pipeline to the beach between Maroochydore SLSC and Alexandra Headland SLSC.

The Australian Surf Life Saving Championships event is returning to the Sunshine Coast from 16-24 April at Alexandra Headland, Maroochydore and Mooloolaba, so the sand is very welcome to ensure a safe and successful event.

The works followed on from the previous dredging and beach nourishment works in 2015, where 70,000 m3 of dredged sand was placed along the beach.
