IQPC Summit: Focus on Coastal Development Projects in Gulf

The Coast and Marine Engineering Summit, which is being organized by the International Quality and Productivity Center (IQPC), will take place on April 24-27, 2016 in Abu Dhabi.

Former Ministry of Works and Housing Undersecretary and Coastal Planning and Engineering Consultant, Nayef Omar Al Kalali, will deliver the first keynote paper in the conference entitled: “The Top Ten Coastal Development Projects in the Arabian Gulf; Best Practices and the Major Lessons Learned.”

According to the Bahrain News Agency, the paper reviews the most important coastal land reclamation projects in the Arabian Gulf, best planning practices, reclamation of coasts and artificial islands for development and recreational uses and lessons learned from these projects, especially in the application of value engineering principles in coastal protection and the creation of artificial beaches.

In addition, the paper will focus on the guidelines for the coastal development areas in Australia.

The conference, which includes a training workshop, will also address new master planning techniques in coastal development projects and facilities design including artificial islands, the development and expansion of ports and marine facilities and coastal and marine zone management.
