USACE’s Hopper Dredger McFarland is Back Home

USACE’s hopper dredger McFarland returned home to Philadelphia this weekend after completing urgent dredging assignments for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ New Orleans and Wilmington Districts.

The dredger was recently deployed for an emergency dredging assignment in Wilmington Harbor, Outer Ocean Bar, Baldhead Shoal Channel.

The McFarland had completed her first emergency call out mission of 45 days in the Mississippi River and was on its way back to Philadelphia when the red flag was raised for Wilmington Harbor.

By the time the McFarland was passing by North Carolina, USACE HQ ordered the dredger to respond to the urgent need of dredging the shoaled areas in Wilmington Harbor.
