All Set for Fenit Harbor Dredging Project

The €300,000 worth Fenit harbor dredging project is scheduled to take place next week.

This dredging scheme will include the removal of 132,300 tonnes of material which has accumulated near the head of the pier, the eastern breakwater, the commercial berth and approaches to the inner harbor, Radio Kerry informs.

The dredged material, mainly muddy silt and sand, will be deposited at four sites in outer Tralee Bay, according to Kerry County Council.

Following an application from Kerry County Council for this dredging project, Junior Minister at the Department of the Environment, Paudie Coffey, signed a foreshore licence in October 2015.

The Fenit harbor dredging scheme will be wrapped up within a month.
