PHOTO: Naming of Van Oord’s New Dredger BIESBOSCH

Royal IHC has just released a photo from the naming ceremony of the cutter suction dredger (CSD) BIESBOSCH.

Built at the yard in Sliedrecht, the dredger was delivered on 1 April and named a week later during a ceremony at Van Oord’s Rotterdam office.

The vessel is the biggest of the standard range of CSDs built by IHC for stock, measuring 64m in length and more than 12m in width. To meet Van Oord’s specific needs, it is equipped with a cutter platform and an IHC Spud Guard® to increase safety and enhance performance when operating at sea.

Suitable for working in coastal areas, the BIESBOSCH is also fitted with two accommodation units.

The vessel is due to start on the Zeetoegang IJmond project, the construction of the new sea lock at IJmuiden, which is part of the locks program of the Dutch Department of Public Works.
