All Ready for Naval Amphibious Base Maintenance Dredging

The Naval Amphibious Base in Coronado, CA, has just announced that the maintenance dredging from the Fuel Pier to Piers 21 onboard the Naval Base will be performed over the next couple of weeks.

The dredging is scheduled to start Tuesday, April 12th through Tuesday, May 10th, from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

The maintenance dredging of surrounding piers is being performed in order to re-establish the minimum required harbor depths needed for the naval vessels that use these facilities.

Initial estimates show that approximately 30,000 cubic yards of material will be dredged from the area.

The dredging operation involves a number of vessels including a survey vessel, a work skiff, a barge mounted clam shell crane, a dredge scow and a tug vessel (when transporting the dredge scow).
