USACE Receives Application for Columbia River Marina Dredging

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District, has received an application for the Army permit for the proposed dredging works at the Columbia River Marina.

According to Stern Group LLC application, the project calls for dredging of up to 10,000 cubic yards of sediment annually for up to five years, with a cumulative total of 50,000 cubic yards to maintain the design depths of the marina.

Dredging will occur to a depth of -8.1 feet Columbia River Datum (CRD) with a 2-foot over-dredge. The area proposed for dredging encompasses approximately 28,700 square feet.

The dredging is to be conducted by using a 10-inch or 12-inch cutterhead suction dredge operated on a floating barge. The dredge slurry will be transported to the designated Columbia River In-water Disposal Site using a floating pipeline or submerged pipeline system.

The Corps is soliciting comments from the public and other interested parties in order to consider and evaluate the impacts of the proposed project. Deadline for sending written comments is May 19, 2016.
