Springbank Project on the Table

The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (AT) is seeking comments from the public for the proposed Springbank Off-Stream Reservoir Project and its potential effects on the environment.

The Springbank Off-Stream Reservoir project on the Elbow River is a flood mitigation infrastructure designed to prevent the effects of future extreme flood events.

AT is proposing to construct the storage reservoir, diversion structure and channel, off-stream storage dam and outlet works in Rocky View County, some 15 km west of Calgary, Alberta, approximately 18.5 km upstream of the Glenmore Reservoir.

Before the work can begin, AT will decide whether a federal environmental assessment is required for the Springbank project.

To assist in making its decision, the Agency is seeking comments from the public on the proposed project and its potential effects.

The deadline for sending comments is May 30, 2016.
