Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter Scheme in Full Swing

The Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter project is progressing towards its next phase, which involves the marine works inside the area.

With immediate effect and for a period of approximately 15 months, marine works involving dredging operations, temporary reclamation, construction of temporary seawall and construction of tunnel will be carried out within the area, according to the Hong Kong Marine Department (MARDEP).

These operations will be carried out by a flotilla of vessels, including one grab dredger, four hopper barges, seven derrick barges, some tugs and work boats.

The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements.

A working area of approximately 50 meters around the dredger will be established, together with the silt curtain extending from the sea surface to the seabed.
