FOSL to Celebrate Completion of Sherwood Lake Dredging

Friends of Sherwood Lake (FOSL) has announced that they will celebrate the completion of the Sherwood Lake dredging scheme at noon Saturday, June 11, at the Sherwood Lake shelter house.

Opelt Sand & Gravel completed the dredging work this past winter.

FOSL added in its announcement that during the last week of May 2016, Terra Construction of Madison, WI, began working on the Sherwood Lake dam and dike repairs.

A berm will be placed over top the old spillway structure. In some places the berm will be raised up to 1-1/2 feet, other areas less, depending on what is needed to bring it all up and level the whole distance of the old existing berm.

They will also be building a new berm that will run alongside Dyer Road on the lake side because the roadway itself will now be too low. A new hoist system will be put in place in the dam.

Tiry Engineering of Chippewa Falls will be overseeing the project with inspections by Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

The entire project must be completed by October 31, 2016.
