Dredging and land reclamation operations at Thinadhoo are moving forward, according to the Maldives’ Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure.

After completion of its work in Addu City Feydhoo last month, the Van Oord’s trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) HAM 318 started dredging and land reclamation program in the Thinadhoo area on June 1.

The Feydhoo scheme involved creation of 50 hectares of new land and the construction of a 1680 meter breakwater while the Thinadhoo part of the project will result in 53 hectares of new land and 1852 meters of breakwater.

This project is now on fast track, aimed to be completed within a couple of weeks.
