Phase III of the Cocoa Beach 200 Channel Dredge Project Underway

Works on the phase III of the Cocoa Beach 200 Channel Dredge Project are underway, according to the city officials.

The phase one of the project included engineering and permitting. Phase two was the clearing and redevelopment of the designated spoil island in the North Thousand Islands near the 200 Channel.

Phase three, the last phase of this project, will be the actual dredging of the 200 Channel.

The channel will be dredged to a depth of 5.5 feet which is the maximum allowed by the Corps permit. The dredged spoil will be pumped and deposited in the spoil site constructed in phase two.

The city officials reported that the works will take approximately 120 days to complete.
