City of Wharton to Hold Levee Project Meeting

The City of Wharton will host a town hall meeting regarding the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers’ Flood Reduction – Levee Project for the city.

This informational meeting will begin at 4 p.m. on Monday, June 27th 2016, at the Wharton Civic Center with the City of Wharton Mayor and City Council, representatives from the Corps and Halff and Associates, Inc. Engineers attending the event.

The town hall meeting will allow USACE and Halff and Associates, Inc. to present latest developments regarding the Flood Reduction – Levee project for the City of Wharton. The City Council meeting will follow beginning at 7 p.m.

Once constructed, the Wharton project’s levees, floodwalls and channel modifications will effectively remove the vast majority of the City of Wharton, Texas, from the 100-year floodplain.
