Watch LIVE: Launching Ceremony of New Dredger Twin Lakes

The launching ceremony of a new dredging vessel, named Twin Lakes, will take place in the Santa Cruz Harbor later today, according to Lisa Ekers, the Port District Director.

The new 200-ton dredger, built by DSC Dredge LLC from Reserve, Louisiana, will replace the Seabright, which conducted its last dredging operation in June.

DSC was commissioned to build the Twin Lakes in April 2015.

A crew spent the past two weeks assembling the new vessel at the boat launch.

The new dredger, worth around $5 million, will be lowered by a crane into the water at high tide.
