Ho Chi Minh City to Dredge 18 Waterways

Ho Chi Minh City has just announced plans to begin dredging operations on their 18 polluted waterways, located in two of its central districts.

The HCMC Center for Urban Flood Control will be responsible for this cleanup project, according to the Vietnam Breaking News.

Le Van Khoa, Deputy Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee, revealed more details about the project: “The drainage and flood prevention project for residential areas in District 12 and Hoc Mon must be finished within 2016-2017.”

Earlier this year, during its visit to Hoc Mon District, HCMC Party Committee Secretary, Dinh La Thang, was informed by locals about the polluted canals.

The Secretary later asked relevant departments and the two districts authorities to resolve the environmental issue definitively.
