Jamestown Beach Replenishment Project Starts

The sand replenishment project at Jamestown Beach Event Park will close down the paddle craft loading and drop-off area while work is being completed, James City County said in its latest announcement.

The project is scheduled to begin today and will take approximately two days to complete.

The beachfront, observation pier and concessions building will remain open during the project, but visitors should be attentive to machinery and workers in the area.

The start date and the duration of the project could change due to weather conditions, the County said.

Beach nourishment, or beach replenishment, is the practice of adding sand or sediment to beaches to combat erosion and increase beach width.
