Dredge CURRITUCK Working in the Ocean City Inlet

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wilmington District’s dredge CURRITUCK is hard at work this week conducting maintenance dredging of the Ocean City Inlet.

The dredge arrived in Ocean City last Friday and started the inlet dredging operations Saturday, July 16.

This dredging is focused specifically on the authorized navigation channel and crews are expected to remove roughly 7,500 to 8,000 cubic yards of material.

It is estimated that the dredging work in the inlet will continue through Thursday, July 21.

Dredge CURRITUCK is the same dredge that conducted emergency dredging in the inlet in March after the late January winter storm. During the visit, crews successfully removed roughly 13,500 cubic yards of material from the inlet.
