Lake Jerrabomberra Dredging Underway

A contractor engaged by Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council has begun with the Lake Jerrabomberra clean-up.

The six week clean-up project will see the removal of 1000m³ of sediment from the Lake via an amphibious dredge.

The sediment will then be placed in dewatering bags where it will dry before it is removed.

The clean-up follows a closure of Lake Jerrabomberra earlier in 2016 due to a blue-green algae outbreak and a subsequent report to the former Queanbeyan City Council.

Lake Jerrabomberra, together with a number of ponds, serves as water quality control asset that protects Jerrabomberra Creek and provides a key landscape feature and passive recreational environment within the suburb.
