Dredger Modi R Completes Teignmouth Harbor Dredging Project

The shipping channel serving the Port of Teignmouth has been deepened following works funded and delivered by the Teignmouth Harbor Commission.

The dredging now means that the channel will eventually accommodate ships with a draught of 5.5 meters on a height of tide of four meters,” said Harbor Master and Chief Executive Officer, Commander David Vaughan. “Previously, the channel could only accommodate a maximum draught of 5 meters.

The work was conducted by Danish company Rohde Nielsen Dredging whose trailing suction hopper dredger “Modi R” and her associated equipment was ideally suited to the confines of the Teignmouth Harbor.

According to ABP Port Manager for Teignmouth, Dave Atkin, this dredging work has opened a window for more arrivals and departures, providing more water on every tide which is a real benefit for existing Teignmouth customers and provides great opportunities for the future.
