HHI Update: Sea Pines South Beach Work Underway

In its latest update on their 2016 Beach Nourishment Project, the Town of Hilton Head Island said that the beach area between Tower Beach and Belted Kingfisher Lane is currently restricted for beach renourishment construction.

As a result of the progress made to date, the town and its contractor Weeks Marine have updated the beach renourishment project schedule.

A 2 week adjustment has been made, with the Central Oceanfront work now likely to occur from mid-August until mid-October.

Work is currently occurring in the Sea Pines South Beach area, and all work has been completed in the Mitchelville, Port Royal and Heel areas.

During the 5 month beachfill project, worth $20.7 million, construction operations will proceed around the clock and will, on average, move along the shoreline at a rate of about 200 to 300 feet per day.
