IADC Enters IHS DPC Innovation Awards 2016

The International Association of Dredging Companies (IADC) has entered as a nominee for the inaugural IHS DPC Innovation Awards 2016 under the “Innovative services to dredging” category.

To enable the design of more sustainable dredging and marine infrastructure works and their efficient and safe implementation and realization in environmentally sensitive areas, the concept of ecosystem services serves as a tool for integral evaluation of project effects (whether benefits or impacts) and achieving broad public support.

The Ecosystem Services project report “Ecosystem services: Towards integrated marine infrastructure project optimization” was commissioned by the IADC and conducted by the Ecosystem Management Research Group (Ecobe) of the University of Antwerp.

René Kolman, secretary general of IADC, said: “We are an ‘early innovator’ in adopting the theoretical concept of Ecosystem Services which is valuable for our industry.”

The DPC Innovation Awards program consists of 13 categories including “Innovation in Dredger Design”, “Innovation in Dredging Equipment” and “Innovation in Port Design & Construction”.

The Awards ceremony will take place in London, UK, on 10 November 2016.
