Port of Houston to Increase Bayport Dredge Funding

In a special meeting held yesterday, the Port Commission of the Port of Houston Authority approved a $1.5 million increase in funding for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ maintenance dredging of a portion of the Bayport Ship Channel.

This contribution is a part of the local/federal effort to improve the safety and efficiency of the Bayport flare area.

The Commission also authorized the Executive Director to designate staff to represent and act on behalf of the Port Authority in state and federal disaster assistance matters.

These were the only two action items on the yesterday’s agenda.

The next regular Port Commission meeting is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, September 27 at 9:00 am.

The Bayport Terminal is a major deep water port in the Greater Houston area in Texas.

This relatively new terminal is designed to handle standardized cargo containers and offload the nearby Barbours Cut Terminal.
