Tender Announced for Bordeaux Dredging Project

Grand Port Maritime de Bordeaux has invited bidders to submit their offers for the La Gironde dredging project.

With the main goal to deepen the estuary and West passes in La Gironde, this cleanup scheme will include dredging works in two phases.

The Grand Seaport of Bordeaux wants to improve maritime access in order to adapt to the evolution of the world fleet and welcome to its terminals ships of larger sizes.

This requires the dredging of the navigation channels of one part of the pass de Richard towards the Saint Estèphe pass, and also the dredging work on the West pass.

Dredging is to take place using trailing suction hopper dredgers and leveling devices in two phases:

  • Downstream passes, approximately 4,200,000 m³ of material to be removed, anticipated duration approximately 4 months;
  • Optional phase: Droit Ouest passes, about 750,000 m³ of material to be removed, anticipated duration 1.5 months.

The deadline for this tender is September 7, 2016.
