Jan De Nul to Expand Port of Kingston

Jan De Nul NV is part of a consortium that has been made responsible for the expansion of the Port of Kingston.

In 25 months, the access channel and the port basin will be deepened and the berths on the existing quay walls will be reinforced and renovated.

This development project will enable the port to provide access to larger container vessels.

For the dredging activities Jan De Nul will mobilize 6 vessels; the cutter suction dredger Marco Polo with four accompanying split barges and the trailing suction hopper dredger Pedro Alvares Cabrál.

“We are very pleased that once more we have gained the confidence to play an important role in the further development of this port,” said Dominique Bombaert, Area Manager at Jan De Nul Group.

This is the fourth project in Jamaica in which Jan De Nul has been involved.
