Boustany Applauds 2016 WRDA Bill

U.S. Congressman Dr. Charles Boustany issued the following statement after the United States Senate passed the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2016, S. 2848, which includes language authorizing the signed Chief’s Report from USACE for the Southwest Coastal Louisiana Feasibility Study.

Following news of the signed Chief’s Report in July 2016, Dr. Boustany wrote to Senate and House Committee leaders urging they include language authorizing the Chief’s Report in their respective versions of the 2016 WRDA bill.

Boustany said: “I applaud my Senate colleagues for advancing WRDA 2016, which includes language authorizing the Chief’s Report for the Southwest Coastal Louisiana Feasibility Study.

Since Hurricane Rita ravaged our coast, I have been hard at work with local, state and federal stakeholders to ensure this Study’s continued progress. The storm surge protection and coastal restoration projects recommended are crucial to the future of Southwest Louisiana’s coastal communities and ecosystems,” added Boustany.

I strongly urge House leadership to immediately bring WRDA legislation to the House Floor, and support including authorization for the Study’s Chief’s Report,” Boustany said.
