Peterhead Contract for Boskalis and McLaughlin & Harvey JV

A joint venture partnership between Boskalis Westminster N.V. and McLaughlin & Harvey has won a contract for the £30 million inner Peterhead harbor redevelopment project –  Peterhead Scheme 2.

The development scheme entails the strengthening and deepening of the port, land reclamation with revetment, widening of the harbor entrance, demolition works and improved services throughout.

The harbor will also benefit from significantly improved realignment to the existing quay walls and increased draft which will facilitate larger vessels.

Peterhead Harbor’s development plans also include the relocation of existing fish market to the North Harbor.

While deepening the harbor, the dredged material will be used to create a 430,556 sqft reclamation area for future developments, while maximizing existing resources and achieving environmental benefits for the scheme.

This scheme is part of an overall redevelopment of Europe’s largest white and pelagic fishing port, it will take approximately 18 months to complete allowing the port to continue to support the economy in the NE of Scotland through 9,500 indirect jobs; generating over £800 million.
