IADC Young Author Award at IX PIANC – COPEDEC 2016

The International Association of Dredging Companies (IADC) Young Author Award will be presented at the Ninth International Conference on Coastal and Port Engineering in Developing Countries (IX PIANC – COPEDEC 2016) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, this October.

René Kolman, secretary general of IADC, will present the award to the winner on the last day of the conference on 21 October, 2016.

The purpose of the IADC Award is “to stimulate the promotion of new ideas and encourage younger men and women in the dredging industry”.

Each year at selected conferences, the IADC grants awards for the best papers written by authors younger than 35 years of age.

In each case the Conference Paper Committee is asked to recommend a prize-winner whose paper makes a significant contribution to the literature on dredging and related fields.

Rudy Helmons, a PhD-Candidate in Dredging Engineering at the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), has won the IADC Young Author Award in 2015.

The award was also presented by René Kolman at CEDA Dredging Days 2015 conference at Ahoy Rotterdam on 6 November, 2015.
