Florida Dredge & Dock Wins Banana River Dredging Project

Florida Dredge & Dock, LLC has just won a $5.9 million contract from National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Kennedy Space Center, for Banana River dredging project.

The project includes maintenance dredging of the Banana River channel at the John F. Kennedy Space Center, Florida.

Under the deal, the contractor will perform maintenance dredging to remove approximately 200,000 cubic yards of material from a 2 mile-long, 125 feet wide section of the Banana River channel.

The work will restore the depth of the channel to -13.0 feet Mean Water Level (MWL). The permitted depth is -12.0 feet MWL, plus one foot allowable overdepth to -13.0 feet MWL.

The current average depth of the section of channel to be dredged is -10.0 feet MWL.

The work is likely to be performed by a hydraulic dredge within the next 6-7 months.
