Major Milestone for the Alexandra Dock Project

The first turbine blade has been manufactured at Siemens’ new wind power factory at ABP Alexandra Dock.

The Siemens factory, located at Green Port Hull, represents a £310 million investment into the site, with ABP’s contribution of £150 million.

Construction on the Alexandra Dock only started two years ago, when ABP appointed the GRAHAM Lagan Construction Group Joint Venture to develop the site for Siemens.

The Joint Venture contractors work included the partial reclamation and infill of the existing dock, construction of three new berths and roll-on/roll-off ramp.

It took only two years to transform the site into a world-class offshore wind hub which will employ up to 1,000 people.

The Alexandra Dock site is still being developed, with construction of a new harbor for pre-assembly and load out of wind turbine components continuing into 2017.
