Vambakeerapalaym Dredging Contract for DCI

The Chief Minister of Puducherry, V. Narayanasamy, kickstarted the dredging operations today at an estuary near the Vambakeerapalaym coastal village fishing harbor, the Business Standard reports.

The main goal of this cleanup scheme is to remove the accumulated sand for easy movement of the fishing vessels.

According to local media, there were complaints from more than 20,000 fishermen that they found it difficult to navigate the fishing vessels for some months now because of massive accumulation of sand in the estuary.

The Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) is the contractor for this work and it is estimated that the project will last around three months.
