Western Australia Coastal Grants Available

Applications are now open for the 2017-18 coastal grants program to help plan for and manage Western Australia’s coastline, the WA Government just announced.

Planning Minister, Donna Faragher, said that $600,000 is available to coastal managers and community groups through the WA Planning Commission’s Coastal Management Plan Assistance Program (CMPAP) and Coastwest Initiative.

“The Government is committed to supporting good coastal planning and management to maintain our spectacular coastline,” Mrs Faragher said.

“With more than 20,000 kilometers of coast to protect, every dollar provided under the annual Coastwest and Coastal Management Plan Assistance Program grants leverages almost three dollars of cash or in-kind contributions from the community and coastal managers.”

Coastal land managers can apply for a share of $275,000 CMPAP funding – up to $75,000 per project – to implement coastal hazard risk management and adaptation plans, and coastal management plans in line with the Commission’s State Planning Policy 2.6 State Coastal Planning.
