The two waterfront towns of Bocachica and Caño del Oro, in the department of Bolívar, are about to receive much needed coastal protection works, reports RUBAU GROUP.

According to the release, Colombian Government recently awarded the €10 million coastal protection contract to Tierra Bomba Consortium, of which Colombiana de Proyectos de Infraestructuras S.A.S. (a RUBAU GROUP company) is a member.

RUBAU also said that project will advance longitudinal coastal protection with riprap by around 800 meters in each of the towns with the sectors of beach to be regenerated in certain areas where they had disappeared.

In addition, town planning works will be carried out also, such as promenades and piers for boats (7 piers in Bocachica and 4 in Caño del Oro).

The waterfronts at Bocachica and Caño del Oro are currently battered by waves. Through these works RUBAU will fulfill the undertaking given by the government, mitigating the effects of this phenomenon on the coastline and preventing direct impact by dissipating energy before it reaches the shore.
