Port of Makhachkala Dredging to Continue in 2017

FSUE Rosmorport has just announced its plans for the maintenance dredging of the Port of Makhachkala for 2017.

According to the company, the scope of maintenance dredging planned for this year will total 420,000 cbm.

Rosmorport also said that the main target of the works is to ensure design dimensions of hydraulic engineering structures at the port.

This maintenance dredging project for the Port of Makhachkala area and its approaches, to be done yearly till 2019, was approved by the state environmental agency in 2014.

Starting in 2015, the dredging works in the port have been performed round-the-year by the fleet of Rosmorport dredgers and its contractors.

Multi-bucket dredger Dnestr together with hopper barges and trailing suction hopper dredger Sommers – built by Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard for FSUE Rosmorport in 2016 – are currently involved in the operations.

Dredged material is being pumped by discharge pipe to the shore dump area.
