Causeway Bay Dredging Operations Extended

Marine works at Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter, involving dredging operations and piling works, will be extended for another six months, the Hong Kong Marine Department (MARDEP) just announced.

In its latest update on the dredging operations carried out in this area, MARDEP said that these works will be undertaken by a flotilla of vessels including one grab dredger, two hopper barges, one dumb lighter and two tugboats.

The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements.

A working area of approximately 30 metres around each dredger, barge and lighter will be established.

“Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the dredger, barges and lighter,” MARDEP said.

Vessels engaged in the works will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.
