Dredge Currituck Kicks Off Florida Scheme

Over the next few weeks, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dredge vessel Currituck will be busy working in the Federal channel at the intersection of the Intracoastal Waterway (IWW) and the Okeechobee Waterway (OWW).

According to the Corps Jacksonville District, this shallow-draft special purpose dredge will be dredging the area known as the “Crossroads”.

Disposal of the dredged material will be in the St. Lucie Inlet Impoundment Basin.

USACE reported that the dredging will occur from 01 March 2017 through around 09 March 2017 and from 15 March through 20 March, if necessary.

The Currituck will then arrive at Bakers Haulover Inlet around 09 March 2017 where it will dredge the shoal in the IWW north of the inlet.

Disposal of the dredge material will be off the shore of Bal Harbor Beach, south of the inlet. Dredging will occur at or around 10 March through 15 March.
