Great Potential for Russian Dredging Industry

Recent presentation of Russian and foreign companies from the 4th Forum of Dredging Companies in Moscow showed that there is a great potential for implementation of dredging projects in Russia.

When speaking at the forum, Olivier Marcus, Damen’s Product Director Dredging, reminded about active involvement of Damen in construction of dredging ships in Russia adding that the cooperation is going to continue it in the future.

We delivered 4 TSHD ships (one TSHD 2000 ship with hopper capacity of 2,000 cub. m. was built in Vietnam and three TSHD 1000 ships with hopper capacity of 1,000 cub. m. were built by Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard to Damen design), eight CSD (one of them, CSD 650, was built in Russia), 38 dredger pumps and other equipment,” said Olivier Marcus.

Evgeny Leonov, Regional Sales Manager of Royal IHC, told the forum participants about the recent launching of two DEME’s LNG-powered trailing suction hopper dredgers. According to him, in the future Russia will require such environmentally friendly ships.

The company has also presented an innovative cutter-suction dredger built for Boskalis, standard Easydredge TSHDs available from stock, IHC Beaver dredgers with low maintenance cost – also available from stock. The company is also working on the automation system of its dredgers and on other projects.

He also added that this year, Royal IHC is going to open an office in Moscow. At the moment, the company is discussing the issues of localization and construction of both hulls and equipment which confirms serious attention of IHC to the Russian market.
