All Set for Carolina Beach Dredging Scheme

The Town of Carolina Beach, NC, has announced that dredging of the Intracoastal Waterway and the Carolina Beach Inlet Crossing is set to begin in April.

During the project, some portions of Freeman Park where the spoils are being deposited will be closed for the visitors, the city said.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will begin dredging operations during the first week of April and continue through May 1.

Contractors will be placing dredge piping from the crossing on Freeman Park south to Zone 10, and due to the small travel lane between Zone 10 and Zone 19, there will be no more room for vehicular traffic.

The city officials will close the beach area and campsites north of Zone 10 during this time, the city said in its release. Once the project is complete and equipment removed, the north end of Freeman Park will be reopened.
