Young CEDA Belgium recently organized a visit to the dredging and beach replenishment site in Knokke, Belgium.

The EUR17 million Knokke beach fill project has been awarded to the joint venture ‘Noordzee en Kust’, of which Jan De Nul is part.

For this coastal protection project, JDN mobilized its trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Alexander von Humboldt, which will discharge almost one million m³ of sand along the beach of Knokke and Wenduine.

During the visit, the Young CEDA members witnessed the vessel discharging a load of sand on the beach and the program continued with some presentations on Belgium’s future coastal ideas and general information on dredging.

The program also included a guided visit on board of TSHD Al-Idrisi.
