MDE Releases Draft on Dredging and Dredged Material Management

The Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) recently released a Draft Guidance Document on the Innovative Reuse and Beneficial Use of Dredged Material.

According to MDE, approximately 5 million cubic yards of sediments are dredged annually in Maryland’s portion of Chesapeake Bay.

Finding environmentally responsible solutions for managing this material is a priority for the State of Maryland.

That’s why MDE has published draft guidance for public comment that will facilitate dredged material reuse in a manner protective of public health and the environment.

A public meeting to present the draft will be held on April 25th, at MDE’s Baltimore headquarters. The draft guidance was made publicly available on March 16, 2017 and public comments will accepted through May 26, 2017.
