Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) just moments ago announced that their new Easydredge 3700 trailing suction hopper dredger, the Mahaa Jarraafu is ready for the sea trials.

This vessel is the largest in the Easydredge series of standard twin-screw trailing suction hopper dredgers, designed and built by Royal IHC.

The trials that will measure the newbuild’s performance and general seaworthiness are the last phase of construction prior to her delivery.

Delivery of this $36 million dredger – constructed at the RMC shipyard in Qidong, China – is set to take place before the end of April.

Following the delivery, MTCC will use the Mahaa Jarraafu for land reclamation, infrastructure and beach nourishment projects in Asia.
