Dredging Work at Oak Island Coast Guard Station Underway

The Oak Island Coast Guard Station dredging program, undertaken by Southwind Construction Corporation, started last month and it is in full swing now.

Under this scheme, dredging operations are being conducted in Coast Guard Station Oak Island Entrance Channel and Basin, Range 1 and Range 2, with fill placement in the Upland Disposal Area 277.

It is expected that the dredging project will be completed by 17 May, 2017, the U.S. Coast Guard announcement said.

Involved in this cleanup work are the dredger Wilko and workboats Proud Mary and Miss Leanne David Lynn.
