Tipner Lake Works in Full Swing

Works to prepare construction site for the upcoming Tipner Lake Coastal Defense scheme are in full swing, reported the Eastern Solent Coastal Partnership (ESCP).

According to the ESCP, the site set up is going strong at Tipner Lake with the Hilsea/Tipner shore pathway being blocked from the Mountbatten Centre to the slipway for the defense work.

The scheme – part of the overall North Portsea Island Coastal Flood Defenses – will run from the Mountbatten Centre, Twyford Avenue to the Ports Creek roundabout. The plan call for work to be performed in three phases from April – autumn 2017, 2018 and 2019, when the area will reopen.

The main aim of the project is to rebuild the existing sea wall which will increase in height by up to 1.4 meters, reducing the risk of coastal flooding to properties in the area.

Phase 1 of the North Portsea Island Coastal Flood Defenses at Anchorage Park was completed in August 2016. Works on the phase 2 took place at Milton Common and were completed in October 2016.
