USACE Seeks Comments on Lower Pool 4 Plan

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, today released a draft Environmental Assessment for its Lower Pool 4 dredged material management plan.

The plan highlights the Corps’ navigation maintenance requirements for the next 40 years within the Mississippi River Lower Pool 4 region.

This is an area between Wabasha, Minnesota, and Buffalo City, Wisconsin.

On average, 40 percent of the district’s annual dredging activities occur within this stretch of the river.

“This project requires a review of environmental effects under the National Environmental Policy Act. A copy of the draft EA with a finding of no significant impact was coordinated with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and state resource agencies prior to posting the public notice,” USACE said in its release.

The public review and comment period on the draft EA ends June 9.
