Greyabbey Coastal Defense Scheme Kicks Off

A £50,000 coastal defense repair scheme at Portaferry Road in Greyabbey is officially underway, the Northern Ireland’s Department for Infrastructure said in its latest release.

The scheme will greatly improve the structural stability of the existing seawall and thereby lessen the risk of undermining the carriageway of this important A Class Road on the Ards Peninsula between Greyabbey and Kircubbin, the announcement stated.

“To help ensure the safety of road users and contractors it will be necessary to operate temporary traffic signals during the course of the improvements,” the department said.

“Local access will be maintained and restrictions will be clearly signposted.”

It is expected that this scheme will be substantially completed by the end of June 2017.
