Coastwide Repairs Narooma North Breakwater

The NSW Government has awarded a contract to repair a 15-meter length of the Narooma North Breakwater channel which was damaged by storms in 2016.

The contract for the repair work was awarded to Coastwide Civil Pty Ltd at Albion Park following a competitive tender process undertaken by the Department of Industry – Lands and Forestry.

Member for Bega, Andrew Constance, said in its announcement that the NSW Government has funded this $130,000 project, which started at the end of May.

“This project will see the placement of up to 500 tonnes of armor rock for the revetment and 100 tonnes of quarry run material for the crest surface of the breakwater to repair damage caused by the storms in June last year,” Mr Constance said.

Additional repairs are planned for other damaged sections of the northern and southern breakwaters in the 2017/18 financial year.

Access to the breakwater will be restricted while the repair work is carried out, which is expected to take four weeks.
