Totnes Flood Protection Scheme Progresses

The Environment Agency has just reported that good progress is being made on the Totnes Flood Protection Scheme.

According to the report, more than 350 meters of wall raising has already been carried out in the Broadmarsh Industrial Estate. The Environment Agency forecasts these works will be completed by the end of July 2017.

Work has started between Throgmorton House and the Steam Packet Inn, Morrisons car park, Dye House Quay and the boundary wall between the Chapel and Ashford slipway. The Environment Agency will then move to the areas of New Walk and around Ashford slipway.

The Environment Agency also added that it is making improvements to the existing quay wall at Steamer Quay in Totnes.

The quay wall was in poor condition and needed urgent repair to ensure the existing flood defenses are maintained. This work is now completed with the exception of landscaping works.
